
Dr. Raul J. Cano has expertise in the identification
and control of bacteria and fungi, including aspects of sterilization, disinfection, and inhibition of microbes. He has broad
background in the application of control mechanisms and chemicals to all environments. Dr. Cano has applied and practical
understanding of physical and chemical approaches to microbial control, public health, atypical mycobacterial infections,
fungal infections, and other environmental and public health microbiology issues. This experience includes the quantification
of microbes and their products, including enumeration and characterization of specific microbes and their products.
Dr. Cano has broad
training and experience in microbial forensics, including assessment and evaluation of indoor mold and microbial air quality.
This experience includes identification of sites of contamination with microbes and remediation measures to be taken to alleviate
and eliminate these hazards.
As a professional microbiologist, Dr. Cano has extensive experience in drug discovery and antimicrobial characterization,
including development of data and reports for IND and NDA documents.
Dr. Cano has taught courses in medical mycology, environmental microbiology,
and biotechnology as well as conducted workshops in these areas as well as microbial forensics and microbial source tracking.
